Belly Band

  2. Post Installation. Pressure-treated posts are set into the ground or anchored to concrete piers, depending on your site conditions and what your engineering drawings specify. These posts are the structural backbone of the entire building.

At 60 feet wide, a standard gable would have required a significant mechanical investment to light and ventilate properly. A monitor-style barn’s clerestory zone handled both. 

Thirty-three sliding vinyl windows in three sizes circle the building, and three cupolas with weathervanes provide continuous passive ventilation across the full length. The center bay is built around a 12 x 14 commercial roll-up with a chain hoist, flanked by two 10 x 8 overhead doors for the garage side. A 50-pound-rated second-story floor spans 20 x 36 feet above, accessible by a 4-foot staircase, giving this customer dedicated storage or workspace without giving up a square foot of floor space below.

A family on acreage in Washougal wanted a building that could hold a full basketball court, a full-sized pool, a fitness room, a rec room, a kitchen, and two bedrooms. The monitor style was the answer because the 26-foot center height made the court and pool possible without requiring a building that looked like a warehouse from the outside. 

Cedar log siding in taupe and forest green kept the exterior consistent with the surrounding property. Inside, forty-five Low-E windows distribute light across the full 104-foot length, and mono trusses over the pool give the interior an open, organic feel that a conventional ceiling would not. PermaBilt completed an engineering contract before construction to find the most cost-effective structure for the scope, built the shell, and handed off to the customer’s other contractors to finish the interior.

This customer needed a three-car garage and could have built a standard gable. What he kept coming back to in our project portfolio was the monitor shape, and he decided that was what he wanted on his Snohomish property. The design was completed without a second story, which was the right call for three cars. Sixteen windows, sourced by the customer and installed by our crew, keep the interior in natural light all day. The building was finished in colors matched to the house, with a cupola and weathervane at the ridge for ventilation.

RV Storage in a Gated Community in Roy, WA

Three constraints shaped this project from the start: the customer’s RV, an HOA that reviewed exterior materials, and a budget that needed to be respected. Our building representative met with him three times before the design was settled. The center door is 14 feet tall, sized around the RV from the beginning rather than adjusted after the fact. The HOA approved the steel siding before the permit was filed. Along the wing sides, two 2 x 36-foot poly eave lights replace traditional windows, running the full length of the building and delivering 90 percent light transmission without frames or glass. A continuous ridge vent handles airflow.

Our customers in Monroe needed a pole building to house their tractor, boat, and classic car. When they reached out, we got right to work. We designed a 28’x36’ True Gambrel pole barn that fit their requirements perfectly. Pig and Goat Barn Enumclaw High School

Our friends over at Enumclaw High School needed a pole building to house their pigs and goats for the FFA and other student programs. After meeting with our PermaBilt® Building Representative they decided on this great design. We constructed this beautiful rustic red 38’x60’x12′ pole barn that features five of our 12’x12′ stalls. Another cool feature of this building is the partial loft storage space spanning 14’x24’. We are eagerly anticipating the long-term utilization of this building by FFA students in the years ahead.

When housing animals, you will need to think about storage. Animals can require a lot of equipment. You will need to ensure that you have enough storage space for all of your equipment. You may want to consider adding a separate storage room or building a loft above your stalls for additional storage space.

PermaBilt’s PermaStall line offers a range of customizable options for stalls. This ensures that animal owners can create the perfect stall to fit their specific needs. The 12’ wide stall front is constructed using black powder coated steel grilled front and a sliding door. This is also a 4’x8′ black powder coated steel grilled. The stall front can be further customized by adding a tamper-resistant black powder coated steel yoke to the sliding door, along with a black powder coated steel feed door in place of fixed bars. The stall front is not only durable and secure but also provides an attractive look to the stall.

In addition to the steel grill on the front of the stalls, all PermaStalls use tongue and groove 2×6 fronts that interlock easily, providing stability and strength. The stalls also offer a removable wall option, which allows horse owners to combine stalls with one another easily. The end channel on either side of the stalls makes it easy to remove and rebuild walls. Hybrid Monitor Pole Building in Hansville – Kitsap County

In the scenic town of Hansville, Kitsap County, a customer faced the challenge of creating a versatile space to store his boat, house a workshop, and provide a comfortable one-bedroom apartment for his elderly mother. The requirement for single-story living without stairs made the task even more complex. After a thorough review of the customer’s needs, design considerations, and budget, our PermaBilt® building representative recommended the Hybrid Monitor pole building design. A concerned couple came to us as their original pole building contractor disappeared on them. Wouldn’t return their phone calls or emails. PermaStall Pole Barn Horse Stalls

A pole building barn with our custom PermaStall horse stalls is an excellent choice for anyone who wants to keep horses or other livestock. Pole buildings are cost-effective and straightforward to construct, making them an ideal solution for anyone who wants a functional barn without breaking the bank.

One of the significant advantages of pole buildings is their flexibility. Unlike traditional barns, pole buildings can be customized to suit your specific needs. This is particularly important if you plan on using your barn for horses. Horses have unique needs, and a well-designed barn can make all the difference in keeping them happy and healthy.

When designing your pole building barn, you will need to consider a few key factors. First, you will need to decide how many horse stalls you need. This will depend on how many horses you plan on keeping and how much space you have available. Generally, you will need at least one stall per horse, but you may want to consider adding an additional stall for storage or grooming.

Next, you will need to think about the size of your stalls. Horses need enough room to move around comfortably, so your stalls should be 12 feet by 12 feet.

Pole Barn Building with Lean-To in Poulsbo – Kitsap County

This new customer living in Poulsbo needed a new pole barn with a lean-to for their animals to shelter in on their Kitsap County property.

They decided on this design after working with our expert PermaBilt Building Representative.  We built a unique 24’ x 22’ x 11’ pole barn with Hardie plank siding with ZIncalume wainscotting, Surf White wall trim and a Zincalume roof with Winter White trim. There are two 6’x 9’6” and one 5’x 9’6” single, sliding Cross Hatch Double “X” Sliding Doors. This pole barn building also features a lean-to that measures at 10’ x 20’ x 8’. Both the main pole building and lean-to have an overhang around the perimeter as well as gutters and downspouts. There are two 3’x6’8” PermaBilt Doors with stainless steel lock-set and self-closing hinges, as well as two 4’ x 3’ slider windows.  For ventilation, there is a 10’ continuous flow ridge vent with bird blocking at the gables.

This customer’s animals will now have a great new pole barn to shelter in during those stormy days on the farm.

Two Stall Horse Barn in Redmond – King County

This Redmond Washington customer contacted us wanting to replace their two-stall barn (12 X 24) with a new one on their beautiful property in King County.

The new two-stall barn pole building is 24 X 36 X 9 that is home to their goats with enough additional room for their equipment and feed. Their new barn has nearly 600 more square feet than their previous building. The PermaBilt permit team worked with King County to get the building permit issued. Once it was issued the customer started their site work. Once it was completed we were able to deliver materials and schedule our building crew. The pole barn building crew built their building in the spring and it was constructed quickly, then concrete poured and inspections were finalized. Their 2 stall barn pole building included an 18” overhang that wrapped around their building, a man door, (2) PermaStalls, a 4 X 3 window, and topped off with a beautiful cupola.

The beautiful colors they decided on made their new pole barn the envy of the neighborhood and they have some very happy goats.
